Dialysis is a medical treatment that performs the job of well-functioning kidneys in ridding the body of waste and helping it to maintain a proper balance of water and minerals. In hemodialysis, this is done by pumping a patient's blood through a dialyzer where the blood is cleansed, and the clean blood is returned to the patient.1 For the over 350,000 US 2and 40,000 UK residents3 who have lost their kidneys and/or kidney function and partake in dialysis regularly, the procedure provides for and defines the normalcy of daily life.

As a leading manufacturer of automated blood pressure monitoring technology, we've seen some pretty interesting technological advances in our 25 plus years, but the work that Biomedical Engineering students from Emory University did for their senior project has to be one of the most impressive accomplishments we've seen in a while.
Zoo Atlanta recently became the first zoological institution in the world to obtain voluntary blood pressure readings from a gorilla. This groundbreaking stride was made possible by the Gorilla Tough Cuff, a blood pressure reading system devised through partnership with the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University.

Over the years, we’ve developed numerous white papers covering a wide range of topics. Through our work with hundreds of end users, we’ve discovered there are still elements of automated blood pressure monitoring that are misunderstood. As a result, we felt compelled to put together a comprehensive guide to automated BP monitoring to help increase knowledge and awareness. Much of this information has been pulled from our existing white papers that can be found at http://www.suntechmed.com/bp-devices-and-cuffs/suntech-247#White_Papers.
